Spelling Practice

Haven't done a Homeschooling post for a while. The kids are still cruising right along. Kyrie(1st grade) is halfway through 4th grade math and 2nd grade Language Arts. She is also doing History, Art, Science and P.E.
Isaiah is halfway through Math 2(he is officially a Kindergarten student). He is doing 1st grade Language Arts, and is excited to almost be finished with 1st grade Phonics(about 2 1/2 more weeks to go). He also has Science.

A couple of weeks ago, I found Scrabble Cheez-Its. So I picked them up for an extra fun and tasty spelling practice. The kids loved them! I was bummed tonight when we couldn't find any more in the store.

My Loyal Friend

I borrowed the movie "Marley and Me" from the library the other day. I saw it in the theater before and read the book, and I laughed, I cried, it moved me. Watching it again, I laughed, I cried- you get the picture. If you haven't seen it, you should. Have tissues on hand.

Recently someone on the message board I frequent lost their dog. They did a great montage with pictures and music. I will have to admit that I don't get as many shots of Padme now that the kids are around. Before we had kids, she was pretty well photographed. I felt bad after I took the Valentine's Day shots of the kids because Padme had been in the background, and I shooed her away because she didn't quite fit in the shot very gracefully. Looking back, I should have tried some posing with the kids.
So I made up for it by getting some shots of her on St. Patrick's Day.

I really love this dog. She is really good with the kids. Very loyal. She probably doesn't have many more years with us. She turned 11 in January, and she is showing her age. She still has a lot of energy, but she's slowing down. I don't like to think of life without her. We missed her a lot when we lived in Seattle.

St. Patty's Day 2010

Thanks to my paternal grandfather, I have a bit o'the Irish in me. Ever since Kyrie was a wee babe, I dressed her up in green and had a photo shoot for St. Patrick's Day every year, and added Isaiah into it, too(I can't remember if I ever took pictures of Jayden in green. He was born in April, and once he started getting mobile, it was nearly impossible to take a good picture of him posed.). Anyway...

Kyrie wanted to have a St. Patrick's Day party with her friends, but we were kind of crunched on time this week. What I DID do for the kids was to make green french toast and milk. It was a big hit- especially for Isaiah- "I didn't know you could make green milk!!!"

The eggs with cinnamon and green coloring

Special French toast bread with maple syrup flavoring(very yummy)

plus whipped cream with green sprinkles and green milk equals happy kid!

I was fortunate to capture the elusive little leprechaun on camera this time around. Yes, I'm aware that he could use a haircut. I plan on taking him to a special kids' place in Spokane next week in hopes of him actually sitting still and letting someone touch his precious mane.

His look would not be complete without the obligatory tubes of toothpaste that he carries around wherever he goes. It's either that, or some bottles of hand sanitizer. I have a hygienic little one!

My Famous Family

This is my cousin's 3 year old daughter. They became Youtube celebrities with their video of the 3 year old crying about a teen pop star. I think it was pretty cool of Justin to go meet them. He even sent them to Disneyland!
